Hello, friends,
This is my third Soap Challenge Club and my
first time
-
Doing
rimmed round and square soap, spin swirl, helix swirl, spider web swirl,
modified Taiwan swirl and rebatching
-
Using
shredded loofah and pearl powder
-
Struggling
with ricing))))
I suppose for most of us it was a real challenge
this month as rimmed soap is indeed an advanced technique. And I suppose most
of us were very happy to be taught by brilliant teacher and soapmaker Tatsiana
Serko (my interview with Tatsiana is here) from Creative Soap by Steso.. But I suppose that we were more happy that
Tatsiana was not participating this month and we all normal mortals got a
chance to win))))) Tanja, it’s a joke))) You know me)))
So this month I wanted to try both techniques
of rim doing: from a batch and one layer. All attempts (I made 5) from the
batch were successful and only 6-th from one layer was ok.
Cutter: I and my almost husband made in
December modified cutter using tutorial Tatsiana had at her blog. My cutter is
wider and longer.. and not that beautiful but I’m very pleased with it. Thank
you Tanja.
Recipe: I used different recipes with the same
rule – 40% liquid oil, 60% butters.
I used a shoe box as a slab mold and Pringles tubes as round mold both lined with baking paper.
First attempt. Spin Swirl.
I made it unscented as it was recommended… My
castor oil was really stinky… so I made only 2 pieces of soap.
Second attempt. Spider web swirl.
Hoooo… I wanted to have patchouli scented
soap.. so I ended in a heavy trace with ricing… Center of that soap without
ricing, as it would not occur when mixing all the time.
Third attempt. Modified Taiwan Swirl.
Very nice one. With loofah. Lots of pictures. Enjoy.
Overheated as all my soaps (may be because of the shoe box...)
Slicing
Slicing from both sides
Making
Forth attempt. Helix Swirl.
Unfortunately again blue turns into green…
The best part was cutting))) I was horrified)))
double rimmed soap))))) some soda ash left unfortunately
Fifth attempt. Taiwan Swirl.
Heavy trace, ricing…
Using pearl powder for the center soap.
Beautiful, love all your colors and designs.
OdpovědětVymazatJoy, thank you very much!
VymazatThank you for sharing all your processes!! You have so many lovely soaps - I don't know how you managed to choose one, but I do love it! The simple pink and white pattern is so chic! This made me laugh out loud: "I suppose that we were more happy that Tatsiana was not participating this month and we all normal mortals got a chance to win" She's definitely a super talented soapmaker - and now teacher too! :)
OdpovědětVymazatThank you, Amy. I wanted it to be simple blue and white, but was out of blue mika))))
VymazatI was laughing too when I wrote that)) but isn't it true?))))
Anastasia, I admire your tenacity!!! You have so many beautiful soap with rim did, and even square !!!! I sincerely wish you good luck in the contest!!!
OdpovědětVymazatМария, ко мне можно и по-русски тоже. Спасибо огромное. Я видела пока только фотку Вашего мыла, но вот детеныш уснул мой - иду смотреть детали. И Вам жалаю удачи!
VymazatYour soap is absolutely beautiful! You made so many lovely soaps in fact. I really love your soap cutter too- it's brilliant!
OdpovědětVymazatThank you, Frances. I wanted to have some kind of drill this month.
VymazatI had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I saw your soaps and OMG the last two!!! It was as if you channelled Tatsiana through your hands.
OdpovědětVymazatBravo on such an amazing talent you have and for all your soaps😊
Thank you, Omneya. I have tooooo little experience to challenge Tatsiana.
VymazatI love the damask even though all are beautiful. What mat did you use for it?
OdpovědětVymazatJessaca, I used Damask Mat from Austrian producer Alphabet Moulds. I suppose some mats could be found on Amazon. I bought directly from them.
VymazatWow....you have definitely mastered this technique. Your soaps are a new level of beautiful and they appear effortless!!!! Your pink damask is exciting to look at!
OdpovědětVymazatThank you, Miriam. It was a new level for me as I'm making soap for 7 month only...
VymazatYour soaps are lovely. Congratulations on all your efforts and the learning you have achieved.
OdpovědětVymazatThank you Lesley, it was really fun, mainly my attempts with one layer technique))) I was really frustrated till Friday when everything turned out quite nice.
VymazatYour a strong and determined soaper I commend you great job! They are all beautiful.
OdpovědětVymazatThank you, Angelsthreeinc, I'm just a beginner)))
VymazatAll of your soaps are SO beautiful! I love all of the colors you chose. Your entry soap is just amazing.
OdpovědětVymazatThank you, Holly. Wish you the very best this month too.
VymazatYour soap is so pretty, even the rebatch one is perfect. My rebatch always turn brown... :(
OdpovědětVymazatChichi, I "rebatch" only the rim, as could not make it round, I decided to use it in a square soap. Also, I made some "confetti" from brokem parts and put them into new soap for the center.
VymazatAnastasia, your soaps are absolutely gorgeous, each and every one of them! Your entry, though is exquisite - just stunning! I laughed so hard at your comment about Tatsiana not participating this month because I thought the same thing numerous times as I made my soaps, lol! She is freakishly talented! I have to say though that I am glad you are in a different category this month. I would be very sad to have to be competing with you with the soaps you created! Look out Tatsiana! 😃
OdpovědětVymazat))))))))) Thank you, Debi for your words))))))) I laughed hard too))) I suupose we have a lot of in common (reminds me of using same silicon for December Challenge)))
VymazatYou exaggerate it while spiking about my talent...I'm just a beginner)) And Tatsiana.. I have no word for her.. Adore..
But you.. you create really sofisticated soaps, have every moth such wonderful ideas))) and you work than really hard to make them look like you want. Hope my baby would sleep now and I can write some comment at your Pinterest page))
I love your soaps, you made so many of them even square and double rimmed! I do like your colors and designs. They are wonderful, good luck!
OdpovědětVymazatThank you, Liz.
VymazatCongratulations on winning the challenge! Your entry soap is just stunning...and all of your soaps are just absolutely beautiful. :)
OdpovědětVymazatThank you, Holly, it is a pleasure to hear it from you, the Winner for USA)))
VymazatCongratulations, your soap is stunning, I knew it would win as soon as I saw it. Congratulations again x.
OdpovědětVymazatJulie {UK}.
