Dancing Funnel technique - Soap Challenge Club (August 2016 entry)

Hi, everybody,

This month challenge in Soap Challenge Club is about making a Dancing Funnel technique, that was created by Tatsiana Serko (read my interview with her here) from Creative Soap by Steso and Jelena Vasiljeva from Soap Techniques.

This is my seventh entry in SCC and first time doing this technique. I used no bottles, just paper cups... This is also the first time I am taking part in all natural category. I promised myself in February when I was not participating to choose this category for my entry next time and so this is it))

I made 3 attempts in All natural Category and 2 attempts in Synthetic one.
First were two soaps made with micas, scented by EOs. Both were too thick to make nice dancing funnel technique, first partially gelled and second one ungelled.

First attempt in natural way and my entry. This Cocoa Powder and Calendula Soap is made of olive oil, cocoa butter, coconut oil, castor oil and calendula petals infused olive oil. Unscented, brown color is made by cocoa powder, main part is uncolored.

In my second attempt (greenish color made by avocado and tamanu oil, black by bamboo powder)  I got a false trace and I know very little about how to work with it, so I decided to try to finish it in other technique, that is my "hometask" in Tatsiana Serko's soap school - Cosmic Wave.

My last attempt that was made with 35% of cocoa butter and avocado oil again, again unscented. I wanted to use 99% chocolate to make 2 different brown colors. But my those colored batters began to be thick too soon, so I was made to finish again with other technique that I know as Whirlwind Swirl (named by Soap.baby) as it is again my "hometask"…

I was still trying to find some dancing funnel technique inside and sliced one piece.... Hmmm.. I found none....

Thank you, Amy, for another great challenge and inviting Tatasiana and Jelena to teach us how to make this wonderful technique.

I wish the very best luck to everyone from the participants!

    1. Thank you, Helene. I just was too lasy and too busy this month to find some bottles. As for the last one soap I saw itfor the first time in Tatsiana's and Jelena's soap "duel" as an inspiration photo and it is called by the author of that soap Whirlwind Swirl, but also it is called Cosmic Wave too.

  4. Wow, Anastasia! These are all so amazing and unique. I really love the cosmic wave and the whirlwind ones, too. Hopefully they will be featured in an upcoming challenge (hint, hint Amy!) I really have to try the calendula to color soaps. It is really beautiful! Great job, again!

    1. Thank you, Holly. It is nice to hear it from "Queen of Natural Colors" / if I remember it well - Debi called you like that/ In natural soaps I didn not choose colors, but just tryed to see what would it be to leave soap as it is)))))
I love taking photos of soap and hope someday)) I will learn how to make it really good.
